Fix it Virtual Repair Week - April 19-25, 2020
In light of the recent news regarding COVID-19, Squamish CAN and the District of Squamish are following provincial health guidelines and are cancelling the Spring Repair Café to protect our community and those most vulnerable.
However, in times like this, we are committed more than ever to offering ways to empower people in their quest for self-sufficiency and to bring the community together - social distancing doesn’t mean social isolating! Therefore, Squamish CAN, in partnership with the District of Squamish, will be holding a virtual Repair Week from April 19-25.
During the virtual Repair Week, we encourage people to find items at home that can be repaired. This is the time to patch your favourite ripped jeans, fix that annoying squeaky door, or change the flat tire on your kid’s bike. We’ve compiled a list of resources to help you out, and if you really get stuck, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll connect you with a volunteer expert who can answer your questions. Share your progress on social media using the hashtag #squamishrepairs and email us your before and after photos to highlight at the end of the week.
Although our Virtual Repair Café will look different from the past, we are excited that this event will uphold the values of self-sufficiency, sustainability, and community connectedness. Start fixing, Squamish!
