Go By Bike Week - Squamish

Squamish CAN is proud to be partnering with the District of Squamish and the GoByBike BC Society to host and organize GoByBike week in Squamish.

Previously under the name of Bike to Work & School Week, GoByBike week is a community
event that encourages people to commute by bicycle. It is an annual event that takes place all
over British Columbia at the end of October and May, celebrating the social, health and
environmental benefits of cycling. Schools, businesses, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate!

Riding a bicycle for recreation or transportation is part of a healthy lifestyle and can help prevent chronic health issues through regular exercise. It is also a lot of fun!

2021 Fall Go By Bike Week Squamish:
Sept 27 - Oct 10

The Fall edition of GoByBike is here! What does that mean?

This is your chance to use the awesome biking community here in Squamish even when the weather might not be as nice.

The theme for this campaign is 'Fall Bike Safety.' We want you to share your best Fall biking safety tips (how to ride in the rain, in the dark, in the cold, etc) so that everyone can ride safely this GoByBike. Share your tips on social media, tag @squamish_can and @gobybikebc and use the hastag #FallBiking to be entered into a prize draw.

Remember that EVERY ride between Sept 27th - Oct 10th can be logged at gobybikebc.ca to be entered into a prize. Connect your GoByBike account to Strava to make it all automatic.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring GoByBike campaign. It was our most successful one so far, and we are hoping to make this one even better!

During the 2020 Squamish Go By Bike Week... Together, in a week, we

  • we biked 12,301 km's

  • burned 369,030 calories

  • fixed about 30 bikes for free  (thanks to Velo-Fix!)

  • ate plenty of granola bars  (thanks to Nesters Market!)

  • biked to pick up many donated free bike soap bars (thanks to Be Clean Naturally)

  • and saved 2,667 kilograms of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from going into the atmosphere
    (planet Earth thanks you!)

You are all part of these numbers! Good job!

HONORABLE MENTION to our schools!
About half of the local students have cycled to school at least once! Wow! Thank you to the school coordinators.
