What inspired you to work in the nonprofit sector? After years in the private construction world the nonprofit world offered a breath of fresh air by building projects that benefit the community.

What do you love most about working at Squamish CAN? Seeing the projects I helped build make a positive difference in our community. I love learning from all the other great people involved in Squamish CAN.

What impact do you hope to make through your work? I hope to help Squamish CAN launch some new exciting community projects that help contribute to the local food supply. I want to help them develop long term durable solutions in their physical buildings and infrastructure.

What’s a moment in your work that made you feel especially proud? I love solutions that solve multiple problems in simple ways. Recently the downtown farm cold storage was overheating, so we constructed a shade wall. This passively shaded the container, the AC no longer had to work overtime. This added storage for farm tools/ materials, will be home to a future school mural, while also collecting rainwater for the new garden!

What’s a small but powerful habit you’ve adopted to live more sustainably? Growing as much of my own food as possible.

What’s a book, documentary, or podcast that changed how you think? The Creative Act by Rick Rubin
